I called in 2 plumbers. One is very nice and the other is sooo...... i don't know how to describe.
I got both plumber's number through name cards (larger than name card). I don't know both plumbers before this.
How do I decide which plumber to help me? I decided by observing their attitude.
The first plumber is simply a nice guy. I have no problem if he screws up anything later.
The second plumber arrived and after explaining the problem, he start to show impatience. This is the first bad sign. You can feel it.
He then suggested to clear the blockage. When I asked how to clear the blockage, he refused to explain it clearly, and just say he will clear the blockage. This is the second bad sign, hiding what he will do.
When I asked how much he wants to charge, he said RM180 is he can clear. If he cannot clear, he will charge RM80 for labour. This is the third bad sign, showing he is calculative.
When I asked if it will reoccur after the blockage is cleared. He starts to grumble, saying that he will only give one week guarantee. One week? By using my common sense, the blockage does not happen in one week time. I would expect the problem will only come again in months later, so I said "I will reject him" to myself.
Seeing my reluctance to engage him to start working, he started to explain very impatiently, and start trying to persuade me that no plumber will guarantee everything....blah...blah.... my mind was blocked. Whatever he said at that time, it just don't get into my ear. This is the fourth bad sign. Then I told him that I will call him again if I decided todo what he said.
After knowing I was going to reject him, he BOLDLY asking for a RM20 fee for him and his another worker to drive to my house and "diagnose" the blockage. I doubt he did any diagnostic at all. I was thinking, "the other Mr. nice guy don't given want to take my money for just diagnosing, what the hell this guy is asking RM20 with just that? and with bad attitude?" Then he impatiently explaining that he will deduct back the RM20 after the blockage clearing work in later days. This is the fifth bad sign, meaning he wants the business very badly but don't want to provide good service or at least good attitude.
Then I stand back, thnking my next step to response. I started to feel his look is disgusting, evil and makes me wants to vomit. After some time, I look at him (must be in angry & frustrated look) and said "Do you need to?".
With some second thoughts, he lift up his hand with palm open and face up, showing that he is pissed off. He then said "OK-lah, I won't charge you this time." and walked away. Just when he arrived at the gate, he grumbled again to his worker, and said "duit pun tak mau kasi".
God blessed him ! With his attitude, no one will dare to engage him again. Avoid to deal with this kind of person. Unbelievable ! I said inside myself, "You go to hell ! Man !"
Lesson of the day:
If you are too nice and soft, people like this will sure take advantage of you. I can tell you that there are a lot of these people around, scavenging for nice guy like me and my family members. I had enough of these people. Whenever I see one, I will stand against them, as much as I can.
The only situation that you have to give in is, when any lifes are in danger or you are on the disadvantage side, you have to do what you have to.
